The 2024 American Spaces Philippines Conference wrapped up on October 4, 2024, at the Fr. Francis Gevers Hall, Saint Louis University Main Campus, Baguio City.
The conference, held from October 1-5, 2024, took place at Saint Louis University, a valued partner and host of American Corner Baguio. University executives and staff from 15 higher education institutions across the country that are home to American Corners gathered at the event. These institutions include Ateneo de Davao University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Central Philippine University, De La Salle University, Mariano Marcos State University, Mindanao State University Main Campus – Marawi, MSU Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography, Notre Dame of Jolo College, Notre Dame University – Cotabato City, Palawan State University, Silliman University, SLU, University of San Carlos, University of St. La Salle, and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. American Corner Iloilo of Central Philippine University was represented by Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, University President, Prof. Ma. Cynthia T. Peleña, Director of Libraries, and Ms. Chilou P. Batoon, American Corner Iloilo Librarian.
This enriching conference addressed topics relevant to library science and emphasized the role of American Corners in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The participants gained valuable insights for the development and innovation of their institutions through lectures and workshops covering various topics such as the United States Embassy, American Spaces, women empowerment, international partnerships and linkages, Sustainable Development Goals, and the role of libraries. Additionally, they had the opportunity to enjoy delightful cultural experiences through fellowships and tours.
It is evident that the American Spaces Philippines Conference 2024 has not only been beneficial in terms of professional learning sessions but has also provided significant cultural insights.
