The Henry Luce III Library (HLL) of Central Philippine University (CPU) shared its professional practices in digitization, digital preservation, and records management through Assistant Professor Vince Ervin V. Palcullo, the Archives, Special Collection and Institutional Repository Librarian (HLL), who served as a resource speaker at the 13th National Congress of the Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines (ASLP). The congress was held on October 21–23, 2026, at J7 Plaza Hotel in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, under the theme “BLOOM: Building Libraries through Opportunity, Open Innovation, and Modernization.”
The national gathering focused on equipping library and information professionals with the knowledge, skills, and innovative approaches needed to build future-ready libraries. Its discussions covered digital transformation, emerging technologies, strategic management, preservation of institutional knowledge, and inclusive and responsive library services.
Asst. Prof. Palcullo participated in two sessions, sharing insights and practices relevant to the work of libraries and information professionals. In Session 2, “BLOOM through Digital Transformation: From Shelves to Servers—Digitization and Digital Preservation,” he discussed the significance of digitization and digital preservation in protecting information resources and maintaining their accessibility over time. He also shared practices from the Henry Luce III Library in managing and preserving digital resources, particularly through digital institutional repository.
In Session 3, “BLOOM through Inclusion: Stewarding Archives, Records, and Institutional Memory for Future Generations,” Palcullo emphasized that librarians serve not only as keepers of books but also as stewards of memory. He discussed records management as a key component of this responsibility, highlighting the importance of systematic records management and the preservation of institutional knowledge for future generations.
His presentations reflected the Henry Luce III Library’s work in supporting the preservation, organization, and accessibility of information resources and institutional memory.
Through this professional engagement, the Henry Luce III Library reaffirmed the importance of preserving both digital and documentary resources as part of its broader role in supporting knowledge access, institutional continuity, and the safeguarding of institutional memory.
